Morocco appoints first woman prime minister after parliamentary vote
King Mohammed VI has tasked Marrakesh mayor Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri with forming a government after her party came out on top in the election.
King Mohammed VI appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as Morocco’s first woman prime minister on 29 September, tasking her with forming a new government, the royal cabinet said.
El Mansouri, Marrakesh’s mayor and a former housing minister, was received by the King at the royal palace, according to the cabinet.
Her Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) came out on top in the 23 September parliamentary election. The party is part of Morocco’s ruling coalition.
