A military aircraft crashed near Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany’s Rhineland-Palatinate on Tuesday, local authorities said.
The Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm said one person was initially reported injured. Firefighters and emergency responders attended the scene, while authorities said they could provide only limited further information.
The aircraft type, its operator and the circumstances of the crash had not been reported. The condition of the injured person and the total number of people involved also remained unclear.
Spangdahlem is a US base north of Trier, near Germany’s border with Luxembourg. The facility hosts the US Air Force’s 52nd Fighter Wing.
The US Air Force had not immediately responded to a request for comment, according to German news agency DPA.
