Michigan State basketball shortlisted for top 2027 recruit Joshua Tyson

Michigan State University basketball has been named a finalist for Joshua Tyson, a four-star combo guard from West Chester, Ohio, who is ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. The Spartans are now competing against five other major programs for the services of the high-end recruit, who has included East Lansing in his top six schools.

According to reporting by Joe Tipton of On3, Tyson’s shortlist also comprises Xavier, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Clemson, and Virginia Tech. The 6-2 point guard holds a recruiting rating of 97.73 in the 247Sports composite system, where he is specifically ranked as the No. 9 combo guard in the nation.

Michigan State extended a scholarship offer to Tyson in late June, initiating a recruitment process that is set to intensify later this year. The university is scheduled to host Tyson for an official visit in October, a critical juncture in the evaluation phase for both the player and the coaching staff.
