Conor McGregor mocks Nate Diaz for loss to Mike Perry
Former UFC rival uses social media to comment on Diaz’s second-round stoppage loss

Conor McGregor has used his social media platform to ridicule Nate Diaz following Diaz’s second-round stoppage loss to Mike Perry at the Most Valuable Promotions “Rousey vs. Carano” event in Los Angeles. The defeat, which occurred at the Intuit Dome, saw Diaz suffer a one-sided contest that ended with his corner throwing in the towel due to significant blood loss by the end of the second round.

In a post on X dated May 17, 2026, McGregor addressed the outcome directly, suggesting it clarified his former rival’s previous hesitation to accept a trilogy bout. “I see why [Nate Diaz] didn’t take the fight lol,” McGregor wrote. “Anyway here’s to when I get my hands on you, you lanky streak of piss.” The post included the hashtag #TrilogyAndIGonnaNeedMyMoney, referencing long-standing discussions regarding a potential third fight between the two fighters.

The rivalry between McGregor and Diaz is widely regarded as one of the most significant in UFC history. Their first encounter at UFC 196 in 2016 resulted in a submission loss for McGregor. He secured a majority decision victory in their rematch at UFC 202 later that same year. Diaz, whose record now stands at 21-14, had previously been in talks with the UFC regarding a return to mixed martial arts via a trilogy bout against McGregor.

Despite the harsh commentary, McGregor has not completely dismissed the possibility of a rubber fight with Diaz. The Irish fighter, whose professional record is 22-6, has not competed since 2021. His immediate focus, however, is on his upcoming return to action against Max Holloway, who holds a record of 27-9.

McGregor is scheduled to face Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While the trilogy has been teased multiple times over the years without materialising, McGregor’s recent comments indicate that the door remains open for a future matchup, even as he prepares for his next scheduled bout.
