Marvel and Disney+ unveil 42-hour ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ watch list
The official 15-title playlist revisits MCU origins, team-ups and multiverse plot points ahead of the film’s 18 December cinema release.
Marvel and Disney+ have released an official “Countdown to Doomsday” watch list ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans a recommended route through key Marvel Cinematic Universe storylines before the film arrives in cinemas on 18 December.
The playlist contains 15 titles covering character origin stories, team-ups and multiverse-related plot points. WIRED estimates the complete catch-up will take about 42 hours, although the viewing can be spread across the weeks before the release.
The MCU currently comprises 38 films and 25 series, according to the source. The published selections include Captain America: The First Avenger, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel and Disney+ have also launched the Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday Official Podcast. Weekly MCU recaps are available through Disney+, YouTube and audio platforms, focusing on the franchise’s Infinity Saga.
The reported list includes two X-Men films made before the MCU existed. The source says The Marvels, released in 2023, is absent from the recommendations. Any returning X-Men actors remain unconfirmed and are the subject of rumours.
