Marquette Basketball Assigns Uniform Numbers for 2026-27 Season
Ian Miletic claims number 7, while new recruits take up numbers 4, 6, 11, and 33, each carrying distinct program legacies.

Marquette University has officially released the uniform numbers for the 2026-27 men’s basketball season, updating the roster with specific allocations for returning athletes and new recruits. The announcement, which follows the publication of summer workout footage, confirms the jersey assignments that will define the team’s visual identity for the upcoming campaign. The roster page has been updated to reflect these changes, providing a clear snapshot of the squad’s composition ahead of the new season.
Ian Miletic, who spent the 2025-26 season on redshirt status wearing number 21, has been assigned number 7. The number became available after Zaide Lowery, who had occupied it since Miletic’s arrival, transferred to Dayton mid-season. Miletic’s original commitment graphic from 2024 featured number 7, but he was forced to select 21 due to Lowery’s presence. The number 7 carries a dormant history at Marquette, having not been worn since the 1940s, with Lowery being the first to wear it in decades.
Four incoming players have been assigned numbers that intersect with the program’s historical record. Colton Crowdis will wear number 6, joining a short list of previous wearers that includes Charles Hammer, Donald Gerken, and Joseph Evans in the late 1930s and 1940s. Sananda Fru has been allocated number 11, a number previously held by two-time consensus All-American Tyler Kolek and Ray Eckstein, a figure of significant campus historical importance.
Ethan Johnston will wear number 33, a jersey previously associated with NBA draft pick Jimmy Butler. Butler’s tenure with the number has left a substantial legacy, with only two other players, Derrick Wilson and Dawson Garcia, wearing it since his departure for the professional ranks. Johnston will be the third player to wear the number in the 15 years following Butler’s selection in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft.
Stevie Mitchell has been assigned number 4, which had been inactive since 2017. The number was previously worn by Gene Berce, a Marquette High School graduate who led the team in scoring in three different seasons and is credited as the first Marquette player ever drafted by an NBA team. Berce’s 17.7 points per game average in 1948 remains the 10th best all-time for a Marquette junior, marking a significant historical benchmark for the number Mitchell will now wear.
