Madrid’s Madring set for Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix debut
The new 5.416-kilometre circuit is scheduled to host Madrid’s first Formula 1 race since Jarama, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli leading the championship.
Formula 1 is scheduled to hold the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix at Madrid’s new Madring circuit, which Yahoo Sports describes as the final European round of the season. The weekend is set to include practice, qualifying and the race, alongside global broadcast coverage.
Madring is due to host Madrid’s first Formula 1 event since Jarama approximately 40 years ago. The circuit is reported to feature 22 turns across 5.416 kilometres, with a 57-lap race covering 308.524 kilometres.
The track’s longest banked corner is reported to measure 547 metres and carry a 24 per cent gradient, creating a distinct test for drivers at the sport’s newest venue.
Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli enters as championship leader after winning the Italian Grand Prix. Yahoo Sports reports that he holds a 66-point advantage over teammate George Russell, while defending champion Lando Norris is 96 points behind.
Driver line-ups are also set to change. Liam Lawson is due to replace injured Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar, while Yuki Tsunoda is set to take Lawson’s seat at Racing Bulls.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are among the other drivers identified with storylines heading into the event. Hamilton previously won a grand prix in Barcelona for Ferrari, while Leclerc is seeking a response after crashing out of the Italian Grand Prix.
