LSU defender served legal filings ahead of Ole Miss clash
Princewill Umanmielen was served interrogatories and other documents in Ole Miss’s breach-of-contract lawsuit before LSU’s scheduled visit to Oxford.
LSU defensive end Princewill Umanmielen has been served with legal filings in Ole Miss’s breach-of-contract lawsuit against him, according to court records reported by ESPN.
The documents, delivered at LSU’s football facility on Tuesday, include interrogatories, requests for the production of documents and requests for admission. The action came before LSU’s scheduled game at Ole Miss on Saturday.
Ole Miss filed suit on 27 July against Umanmielen and LSU offensive lineman Devin Harper. The university is seeking $550,000 from Umanmielen and $400,000 from Harper, along with legal fees and court costs.
Ole Miss alleges the players’ revenue-sharing agreements included penalties for leaving within 90 days of signing. The claims have not been adjudicated, and service of the documents does not represent a court ruling or finding of liability.
According to ESPN, neither LSU player has an attorney listed on the court docket. Ole Miss officials and the university’s attorney had not responded to requests for comment.
Umanmielen has started his LSU season with five sacks in two games, leading the FBS in that category, according to ESPN.
