The club has finalised the transfer of Sofie Lundgaard to German side Eintracht Frankfurt, ending her three-and-a-half-year tenure amid a period of significant injury disruption.
Liverpool FC Women have confirmed the permanent transfer of midfielder Sofie Lundgaard to Eintracht Frankfurt, marking the end of her stint with the Merseyside club. The move sees Lundgaard join the Frauen-Bundesliga side, concluding a period of three-and-a-half years with Liverpool that began when she joined the squad in 2023.
The transfer follows a challenging period for the player, who has struggled with serious ligament injuries over the last two seasons. These physical setbacks limited her availability to just 11 appearances during that timeframe, a stark contrast to her initial impact where she made 31 appearances in her first 18 months at the club.
In total, Lundgaard made 42 appearances for Liverpool FC Women across her entire tenure. The club acknowledged the difficulties faced by the midfielder, noting the significant reduction in her playing time due to the injuries sustained during her final two years on Merseyside.
