A leaked release candidate for Apple’s macOS Tahoe 27.6 has exposed a wide array of product codenames, lending further credence to existing rumours of a major hardware refresh. According to reports from Engadget and MacRumors, the codebase contains references to upcoming devices spanning the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and home product lines, with many expected to be unveiled at Apple’s anticipated September event.
The most significant findings relate to Apple’s smartphone lineup. Codenames V62, V63, V64, V67, and V68 appear to correspond to the iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18, and iPhone Ultra, respectively. The iPhone Ultra is also referred to as 'The Folding One', suggesting the introduction of a foldable form factor to the high-end range. While these names are derived from internal codes, they align with previous industry speculation regarding the next generation of iOS devices.
Beyond mobile devices, the leak points to substantial updates in Apple’s ecosystem. Codenames J490 and B525 are believed to refer to a new Home Hub and an updated HomePod Mini. Furthermore, multiple references to Macs suggest the arrival of new MacBook Pro models, potentially featuring the M6 chip, alongside a new iMac.
