Knicks complete historic comeback to take 3-1 series lead over Spurs
New York overcomes 29-point deficit to edge San Antonio 107-106 in Game 4, setting up championship decider in Texas.

The New York Knicks have secured a commanding 3-1 lead in the 2026 NBA Finals after completing the largest comeback in championship history, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden. Overcoming a 29-point second-half deficit, New York now stands one victory away from its first title in 53 years, with Game 5 scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio.
OG Anunoby delivered the decisive moment, scoring a playoff-career-high 33 points, including a game-winning tip with 1.2 seconds remaining. Jalen Brunson contributed 36 points, providing crucial scoring throughout the rally. The victory marks a significant shift in momentum for the Knicks, who had previously overcome double-digit deficits in earlier rounds of the playoffs.
The Spurs began the game with historic dominance, establishing a 27-point lead at halftime and setting Finals records for most three-pointers in a half and most points by a road team in the first half. However, their offensive efficiency collapsed in the second half, shooting just 20.5 per cent from the field. San Antonio recorded more turnovers than made field goals after the interval, with key players struggling to maintain their early form.
New York’s resilience was evident in their ability to chip away at the deficit despite early foul trouble for Karl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks outscored the Spurs 32-11 in the final quarter, capitalising on critical defensive stops and clutch shooting. Brunson’s late three-pointer and floater gave New York its first lead of the game, setting the stage for Anunoby’s final play.
The series now shifts to San Antonio, where the Spurs must avoid elimination. The loss leaves San Antonio facing the prospect of a historic collapse, having squandered a substantial lead in front of their home crowd. The Knicks’ ability to close out the series in the coming days will determine whether they end their long championship drought.
