Kagi introduces setting to filter paywalled links from search results
The paid search engine has rolled out a new feature to automatically exclude paywalled content, alongside a revamped Stocks widget and improved message rendering capabilities.
Kagi, a paid search engine that markets itself on providing ad-free results and greater user control, has introduced a new setting to automatically remove paywalled links from search results. The update addresses a common frustration for users seeking accessible content without encountering subscription barriers.
The company’s latest changelog, published on 21 August 2026, details the addition of this filtering option. It allows users to streamline their search experience by excluding links that require a separate payment to access, aligning with Kagi’s broader goal of returning power to the user.
Alongside the paywall feature, Kagi has revamped its Stocks widget. The update is intended to make the widget appear more frequently when relevant and now includes support for exchange-traded funds in addition to individual stocks.
The Stocks widget also features a new price chart with animations between time windows. These visualisations are designed to contextualise how significant current price fluctuations are compared to the wider market trend.
Further improvements include enhanced message rendering, which now supports links, Markdown, and LaTeX. Users can also search across all threads, sort results by recency or alphabetically, and filter by folder using the slash command.
The update also introduces more control over temporary threads, allowing users to choose whether they persist for 24 hours, seven days, or 30 days. These changes are part of a broader effort to create a calmer and easier-to-scan settings experience.
