Judge returns as Yankees secure 34th straight winning season

Aaron Judge returned to the New York Yankees after more than three months out with a fractured rib, playing six innings in Tuesday night’s 5–3 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Judge went hitless in three at-bats and struck out twice in his first game since 31 May. His appearance was planned to last six innings, with the Yankees managing his return without a minor-league rehabilitation assignment.

Heliot Ramos supplied the decisive contribution with a three-run home run after replacing Judge in right field. The result lifted New York to 82–62 and guaranteed the club a winning record for the 34th consecutive season.

The Yankees’ last losing season was in 1992, when they finished 76–86. CBS Sports reported the current run as the second-longest streak of winning seasons in Major League Baseball and across the four major North American professional sports leagues.

New York remains four games behind Tampa Bay in the American League East and four games ahead of Boston for the top wild-card position, with 18 games remaining, according to CBS Sports. The winning-season milestone does not secure a playoff berth or division title.
