Fox Sports analyst Geoff Schwartz has named 10 players who stood out in Week 5 of college football, weighing performances on game tape as well as statistics. His supplied list puts Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith at the centre after a record-setting game against Iowa.

Smith caught 11 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Fox Sports reported that he became Ohio State’s career leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, with totals of 207, 3,381 and 37 respectively.

Schwartz also highlighted Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons, who completed 23 of 30 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns. Fox Sports said the performance helped Missouri secure its first win over a top-10 team since Eli Drinkwitz became head coach in 2020.

Texas Tech’s John Curry was recognised for leading his defence in tackles against Colorado and returning an interception for a zero-yard touchdown. Iowa State’s Flora had 212 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, completed two passes for touchdowns, and contributed to a fourth-quarter comeback win over West Virginia.

The supplied Fox Sports text also describes standout pass-rushing performances from a Miami player and Georgia State’s Xavier and Esqillion. It cuts off before the full group of 10 is identified.
