Jayden Daniels ruled out after apparent elbow injury against Cowboys
Washington’s quarterback was removed in an air cast after appearing to hyperextend his left elbow late in the first half.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was ruled out for the remainder of the team’s Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys after an apparent left-elbow injury on 20 September.
According to CBS Sports, Daniels was stepped on near the Cowboys’ 1-yard line with three seconds remaining in the first half. He appeared to hyperextend the elbow while bracing his fall and was taken from the field in an air cast.
The injury followed a failed first-and-goal sequence. Washington had 12 seconds and the ball a yard from the end zone but was unable to score before Daniels was hurt.
Daniels completed 11 of 16 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown before leaving, while adding 69 rushing yards. Marcus Mariota was expected to take over at quarterback as Washington sought to avoid an 0-2 start.
Daniels reportedly dislocated the same elbow last season and appeared in seven games because of elbow, knee and hamstring problems. No confirmed diagnosis or subsequent medical update was provided in the available report.
