Israelis marked three years since Hamas’s 7 October 2023 attacks, which killed about 1,200 people and saw 251 hostages taken, according to France 24.

The anniversary was the first since all hostages or their remains had returned home. At the Nova music festival site, relatives gathered to remember those killed, including Bar Zohar and Shaun, who died alongside other festivalgoers.

The commemorations coincided with Israeli strikes in Gaza. Palestinian officials reported three people killed: two in Gaza City, according to Al-Shifa hospital, and one in Khan Yunis, according to Nasser Hospital.

The anniversary also comes amid political scrutiny of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Associated Press reported he is the only senior figure from 7 October still in office, with the coming election expected to focus on his leadership.

Netanyahu has rejected calls for a commission of inquiry and has sought to shift blame to security officials, France 24 reported. He has denied reports that the United Arab Emirates and Egypt warned him ahead of the attack.
