The Iowa Wolves acquired the returning player rights to former University of Iowa forward Payton Sandfort on 1 October, the team announced. The deal gives Iowa the rights in exchange for guard Nojel Eastern’s returning player rights and a first-round pick in the 2027 NBA G League Draft.

The rights acquisition does not confirm Sandfort will play for the Wolves this season.

Sandfort appeared in four NBA games for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, averaging 8.8 points. He also played 25 games for the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League, averaging 10.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
