Inter Milan secure Djed Spence from Tottenham in £30m deal
The 26-year-old wing-back becomes the second English player to join Inter this summer, linking up with John Stones as Tottenham reshape their defensive options.
Inter Milan have completed the signing of England international Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year contract. The Serie A club confirmed the permanent transfer of the 26-year-old wing-back, who has agreed to terms until 30 June 2031.
According to British media reports, the Italian champions paid approximately £30 million ($40.59 million) for the player. The fee reflects the value placed on Spence’s experience in European competition and his recent history with the North London side.
Spence departs Tottenham after four years at the club, during which he made 85 appearances. His tenure included winning the Europa League, though limited first-team opportunities prompted loan spells at Rennes, Leeds United, and Genoa before he established himself in the Spurs squad.
The England international was part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad at the 2026 World Cup, making eight appearances, including in the victory during the third-place playoff. He is the second English player to join Inter this summer, following the arrival of defender John Stones, who joined on a two-year contract after leaving Manchester City.
The move marks a significant shift in Tottenham’s defensive landscape as they look to reshape their options. For Inter, the acquisition adds depth to their backline with a player who has demonstrated versatility and international pedigree at the highest level.
