Inter complete late comeback to defeat Napoli 3-2
Inter overturned a two-goal deficit at San Siro as Lautaro Martínez scored twice, including the stoppage-time winner.
Inter recovered from two second-half goals to beat Napoli 3-2 in Serie A at San Siro, completing the comeback with Lautaro Martínez’s stoppage-time strike.
The match was goalless at half-time, with Federico Dimarco’s effort against the post the closest chance. Napoli then moved two goals ahead through Matteo Politano and Rasmus Højlund.
Inter responded three minutes after Højlund’s goal, with Dimarco assisting Martínez. Marcus Thuram equalised in the 82nd minute before Martínez scored again late to secure the win.
Inter manager Cristian Chivu made two half-time substitutions, bringing on Thuram and Curtis Jones. CBS Sports reported that further changes, including the introductions of Carlos Augusto, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Yann Bonny, strengthened Inter’s response in the latter stages.
Napoli had opportunities to restore its lead through David Neres and Zambo Anguissa, but neither chance produced a third goal. CBS Sports reported 29 shots, eight shots on target, eight big chances and a combined expected-goals figure of 4.58.
Napoli’s next reported fixture is a Champions League match against Arsenal.
