Jaxson Dart’s historic performance gives Giants winning start under Harbaugh

Jaxson Dart opened the New York Giants’ season with a performance that reportedly placed him second in NFL history for a specific Week 1 statistical combination, as New York defeated the Dallas Cowboys 28–20 at MetLife Stadium.
The second-year quarterback completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed 11 times for 54 yards, recording a reported career-best completion rate of 79.3 per cent and passer rating of 134.2.
According to the Yahoo Sports report, Dart became the second player to produce at least three passing touchdowns, no interceptions, 50 or more rushing yards and a completion rate above 75 per cent in a Week 1 game. Jalen Hurts reportedly achieved the same combination in 2021.
Dart’s rushing total was also reported as the most by a Giants quarterback in a Week 1 game since 1950. The historical claims were not independently verified in the source material.
The result marked John Harbaugh’s first game as Giants head coach and followed New York’s 4–13 season in 2025. It also reversed a recent pattern in the rivalry, with Dallas having won 16 of the teams’ previous 18 meetings since 2017.
