India complete T20I series sweep over Zimbabwe in Harare

India secured a series victory against Zimbabwe by winning the third and final T20I match at the Harare Sports Club. The contest, described as a dead rubber as India had already clinched the series, saw the Indian side elect to bat first and post a total of 192 for five. Zimbabwe’s reply of 157 for seven proved insufficient to chase the target, resulting in a series sweep for India.

The innings was anchored by 15-year-old left-handed batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 81 runs off 49 balls. His knock included eight fours and four sixes, with one notable 102-metre six over wide long-on that forced Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza to adjust his bowling length. Sooryavanshi was dismissed with five overs remaining after a diving catch by Brad Evans from long off, ending his innings just 19 runs short of a maiden international century.

Sooryavanshi concluded the series as the leading runscorer with 151 runs at a strike rate of 196.10. This performance followed three previous matches against England prior to the tour, marking a significant statement in his fledgling career. His contributions were pivotal in establishing India’s dominance throughout the series.

In the bowling department, Mayank Yadav was the standout performer for India, taking three wickets for 29 runs in four overs. He finished the series with five wickets at an average of 14.40. Yash Thakur also contributed with two wickets for 45 runs, helping to restrict Zimbabwe’s chase effectively.

Zimbabwe’s response was led by Ryan Buri, who scored 54 not out. Despite his efforts, the team fell short of the required total, finishing on 157 for seven. The result confirms India’s superiority in the T20I format during this tour, with Sooryavanshi emerging as a key talent for the future.
