Hunter’s end-zone interception marks first NFL pick
The Jacksonville cornerback intercepted New England quarterback Drake Maye on third-and-goal, with the Jaguars leading 14–3.
Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Travis Hunter recorded his first NFL interception on Sunday, picking off New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye in the end zone during a third-and-goal play from the 2-yard line.
The play came with Jacksonville leading 14–3 as New England threatened to score its first touchdown. Maye rolled right and threw towards tight end Efton Chism, but Hunter secured the ball in front of him and got both feet down in the end zone.
Yahoo Sports reported that it was Maye’s second interception of the game and his sixth turnover of the season at that point.
Hunter, selected second overall in 2025 after winning the Heisman Trophy at Colorado in 2024, had no interceptions as a rookie. He recorded 28 catches for 298 yards and a touchdown, along with three passes defended.
The report says Hunter has played primarily on defence in 2026 and entered Sunday with one catch for eight yards. Jacksonville will hope the interception signals further progress in that role.
