Gurney added to World Series of Darts Finals after visa withdrawals

Daryl Gurney and Maik Kuivenhoven have been called into the 2026 World Series of Darts Finals after Philippines players Lourence Ilagan and Alexis Toylo withdrew from the tournament.

Sky Sports reported that Ilagan and Toylo had not received decisions on their Schengen visa applications before travelling to China for the final two events of the PDC Asian Tour season. The source material does not confirm whether the applications were later approved or refused.

Gurney, from Northern Ireland, and Netherlands player Kuivenhoven were the highest-ranked players on the reserve list. Gurney will face defending champion Michael van Gerwen in the opening round at AFAS Live in Amsterdam on 17 September.

Kuivenhoven is scheduled to play Jonny Clayton the following day. The tournament will run from 17 to 20 September, with a £100,000 top prize.

Luke Littler, the 2024 champion, is also in the field and will face Danny Noppert. Littler was beaten 11–7 by Van Gerwen in last year’s final, according to Sky Sports.
