Midfielder dismisses links to Arsenal, Manchester United and Atlético de Madrid

Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra has publicly dismissed transfer speculation linking him with Arsenal, Manchester United and Atlético de Madrid, reaffirming his intention to remain at the club. The 23-year-old renewed his contract until 2029 last year and emphasised his €100m release clause, which Valencia intend to uphold as the only fee they would entertain.

Guerra posted on social media to address the rumours, stating: “I have a contract. I renewed last year. It’s clear that I want to stay here (at Valencia CF).” The club’s current stance is that Guerra will be a central figure in the 2026/27 season under manager Carlos Corberán, despite reports that the midfielder is valued at around €25m.

The midfielder’s recent performances have been a primary driver of the interest from European clubs. Media in Spain described his final weeks of the season as ‘significant’, noting that he contributed three goals and three assists in Valencia’s final four league matches. These efforts helped Corberán’s side move away from the relegation zone and sparked a late fight for European places on the final day.

Guerra’s form has also secured him a role with the Spain national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has joined the group of support players working with senior squad manager Luis de la Fuente at Las Rozas. His involvement is described as similar to that of England’s Ethan Nwaneri, where younger players train with the senior group to gain experience.

While no club is currently paying the €100m release clause, uncertainty remains regarding Valencia’s response to offers near €50m. For now, the club’s position is clear: the release clause is the only fee they would consider, and Guerra’s message to supporters is one of continued commitment to the project.
