Guadalajara’s youth academy, known as the Cantera Rojiblanca, recorded mixed results in Matchday 5 of the Apertura 2026 season. The club’s Under-19 and Under-21 teams both faced Tijuana, commonly referred to as Xolos, at the Verde Valle fields. The fixtures provided a snapshot of the developmental pipeline, with the younger side delivering a commanding performance while the older group struggled to hold onto a late lead.

In the Under-19 category, Guadalajara achieved a 3-1 victory over the border side. Aarón Correa was the primary catalyst for the win, scoring twice in the 12th and 44th minutes to establish a comfortable advantage. Although Tijuana managed to pull one back in the 66th minute, the home side maintained control of the game’s tempo.

Edgar Vargas sealed the result for the Under-19 team with a goal in the 78th minute. The match was officiated by Ángel Azael Azamar Ponce, with Alberto Ascencio managing the Guadalajara side and Carlos Pinto leading the Tijuana visitors. The outcome reflects a structured approach to the match, where early goals allowed the team to manage the game effectively.

Conversely, the Under-21 team faced a more challenging contest, ultimately losing 2-1 to Tijuana. The visitors took the lead in the 55th minute, putting pressure on the Guadalajara squad to respond. The match remained intense, with both sides exchanging possession in the final stages of the game.

Zinedine Hernández provided a moment of hope for the Under-21 side by scoring an equaliser in the 75th minute. However, the Tijuana side regained the lead minutes later, overcoming the late surge from the home team. Despite a final push for an equaliser, the Guadalajara players could not find the goal to save a point.

The Under-21 fixture was refereed by Julio Humberto Acero Rangel. Luis Arce served as the head coach for Guadalajara, while Luis Michel managed the Tijuana team. The split result highlights the varying levels of consistency within the academy’s different age groups during the current Apertura 2026 campaign.
