Pack's Jacobs facing domestic violence charges
NFL running back faces felony and misdemeanour counts following police response to disturbance

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has been arrested and booked on multiple domestic violence charges, according to the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin. The 28-year-old athlete was taken into custody on Tuesday and is currently being held without bond as the investigation remains active.

The charges stem from an alleged disturbance that prompted police response on Saturday. Jacobs faces five counts in total: battery involving domestic abuse and criminal damage to property, domestic abuse, disorderly conduct involving strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. Records from the Brown County jail indicate that the strangulation and suffocation charge is classified as a felony, while the remaining four charges are misdemeanours.

Jacobs’ legal representation has issued a strong rebuttal to the accusations. Attorneys David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac stated in a joint release that their client "vehemently denies the allegations." They described the matter as being in the early stages of investigation and highlighted that important evidence has not yet been made public, calling for fairness and restraint while the judicial process unfolds.

Official sources have maintained a cautious approach regarding the specifics of the case. Michael Renkas, chief of the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, confirmed the ongoing nature of the inquiry, stating, "This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time."

Both the Green Bay Packers and the National Football League have acknowledged the situation but declined to provide additional commentary. A team spokesperson noted they were aware of the matter and would withhold further comment due to the ongoing legal proceedings. The NFL confirmed it was aware of the report and has been in contact with the franchise.

Jacobs joined the Packers in free agency in 2024 and is entering his third season with the organisation. A first-team All-Pro selection in 2022 with the Las Vegas Raiders and a three-time Pro Bowl participant, he recorded 1,211 rushing yards and 14 total touchdowns in 15 games last season. The team has begun Organized Team Activities, with head coach Matt LaFleur scheduled to speak with the media on Wednesday.
