GitHub project brings Meta Neural Band gestures to macOS
Kinesis claims to let users control desktops, Mission Control, music, volume and brightness with gestures, subject to system permissions and project requirements.
A GitHub project called Kinesis is offering native macOS controls for users of the Meta Neural Band, according to material published through Hacker News.
The project says users can swipe between desktops, open Mission Control and control music using the band. A pinch-and-turn gesture can be mapped to adjust volume or brightness.
Kinesis also reportedly supports custom gesture mappings and includes a setup mode for practising controls before keeping the app active in the macOS menu bar.
The project requires macOS 14 or later, a Neural Band, Bluetooth access and accessibility permissions. Its description says it works on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Setup instructions call for users to unpair the band from the Meta app, place it in pairing mode, connect it to the Mac and approve the requested permissions. The project says it builds on earlier experimentation with Astra in a separate “neural-band-poc” repository.
The material does not establish whether Kinesis is officially supported or endorsed by Meta or Apple. It also does not specify a Neural Band model, release version, licence details, reliability record or user adoption.
