Giants' Malik Nabers says his soul has 'come back to life' after return to team drills
Wide receiver resumes 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work in non-contact jersey

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers has returned to team drills, participating in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions following his recovery from a torn ACL. The injury, sustained in Week 4 of the previous season against the Los Angeles Chargers, required two surgical procedures: an initial repair in October and a subsequent "clean-up" operation to remove scar tissue.

Nabers, who missed the remainder of the prior campaign, described the return to the field as emotionally significant. Speaking to CBS Sports, he stated that his "soul has come back to life" after being away from the game for an extended period. He wore a non-contact jersey during his first work with the full squad, indicating a cautious approach to his rehabilitation timeline.

The wide receiver’s return comes after a standout rookie season in which he recorded 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection and fifth place in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting. He began his sophomore campaign strongly, accumulating 16 receptions for 251 yards and two scores in the first three games before his injury.

Despite his progress, Nabers has not yet committed to suiting up for the Giants’ Week 1 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. His availability for the start of the season remains unconfirmed, with reports suggesting he is getting closer to a full workload but is still less than four weeks away from the kickoff.

Nabers is expected to serve as the primary target for quarterback Jaxson Dart. His return is viewed as a potential stabiliser for a Giants passing attack that has reportedly struggled during training camp. The team will monitor his participation closely as they prepare for the upcoming season.
