Team officials and senior players seek to unify locker room following social media fallout

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart addressed the team in a meeting on Wednesday to discuss his decision to introduce US President Donald Trump at a campaign rally for Republican Representative Mike Lawler. The gathering included remarks from team leaders edge rushers Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, as well as backup quarterback Jameis Winston, according to NFL Media.

The meeting was convened following public criticism from fellow 2025 first-round pick Abdul Carter, who initially posted derogatory comments on social media regarding Dart’s introduction of the president. Carter later clarified that he and Dart had resolved the matter privately, stating the pair were on good terms after speaking earlier as men.

Giants tackle Jermaine Eluemunor publicly denied reports of division within the squad, responding to a reporter’s claim that Dart had fractured the locker room by stating the group is fine. The team has indicated it is moving forward and has worked to put the controversy behind them.

This incident marks the first notable disruption in a Giants offseason that has otherwise been viewed positively. The organisation recently hired head coach John Harbaugh and selected Arvell Reese and Francis Mauigoa in the top 10 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

New York finished the previous season with a 4-13 record and faces a preseason over-under of 7.5 wins. Dart is set to have his first full season as the Giants' starter as the team seeks to improve on its previous performance.
