Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina have completed the US Open women’s quarter-final line-up with dominant fourth-round victories in New York.

Fourth seed Gauff defeated fellow American Iva Jovic 6-1, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2023. She will next face French Open champion Mirra Andreeva.

Second seed Rybakina beat 13th seed Naomi Osaka by the same score in 66 minutes. The two-time Grand Slam champion will meet Zheng Qinwen, who recovered from 5-0 down in the opening set to defeat Iga Swiatek.

Rybakina could become world number one for the first time by reaching the semi-finals, regardless of Aryna Sabalenka’s result. She remains the reigning Australian Open champion.

Osaka said after the match that she was dealing with pain in her leg. BBC Sport reported that the results gave the tournament its first quarter-final draw featuring the top six seeds since 1998.
