Former NFL star Anthony Wint submits Terrance Chatman in UFC debut

Former New York Jets player Anthony Wint made a decisive statement in his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut, defeating Terrance Chatman by submission at UFC Sacramento on Saturday. The bout, which took place at the Golden 1 Center in California, marked the promotion’s return to the state capital for the first time since July 2019.
Wint’s victory was his second win in a span of 11 days, following a 34-second knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series on 15 August 2026 that secured his UFC contract. The rapid transition from the Contender Series to a main card appearance underscores the athletic potential the organisation sees in the former gridiron star.
In the heavyweight contest, Wint initially sought to wrestle his larger opponent, though Chatman defended a double leg and clinch takedown effectively. However, a single leg transition tripped Chatman to the fence, setting the stage for the finishing sequence. From his back, Chatman briefly threatened a kimura reversal, but Wint muscled free to regain top position.
After landing a couple of punches from the top, Wint attacked an arm triangle in the final minute of the first round. Although the position was not immediately perfect, Wint’s physical strength proved decisive, forcing Chatman to tap out. The result was broadcast live on Paramount+ as part of an event headlined by a middleweight clash between Anthony Hernandez and Gregory Rodrigues.
