Florida has begun Jon Sumrall’s tenure with a reported 66–21 victory over Florida Atlantic in Gainesville on 5 September, according to Yahoo Sports.
Quarterback Aaron Philo accounted for four touchdowns, throwing for three and running for another. Florida led 38–14 at half-time, with Philo responsible for three of his touchdowns before the interval.
Running back Jadan Baugh carried 14 times for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Vernell Brown III added six receptions for 117 yards, while DJ Coleman and Dijon Johnson each intercepted a pass.
Florida’s performance came with FAU entering the game as a 26.5-point underdog. The result marked the opening game of Sumrall’s Florida tenure after he was hired from Tulane on 30 November 2025.
