Fairphone Enters US Market Directly with Repairable 6 Plus Smartphone
The Fairphone 6 Plus marks the company’s first direct sales in the United States, offering a mid-range Qualcomm processor, 12GB of RAM, and software support until 2033 via Amazon and Fairphone’s website.

Fairphone has officially launched the Fairphone 6 Plus smartphone in the United States, marking the company’s first direct sales entry into the region. Priced at $649.99, the device is available unlocked through Fairphone’s website and Amazon, with official support for T-Mobile and AT&T networks. This launch represents a strategic shift for the Dutch manufacturer, which previously relied on a partnership with Murena to distribute its devices in the American market.
Under the previous arrangement, Fairphone models from the 4 onwards were exclusively sold through Murena, requiring buyers to utilise the developer’s /e/OS software and incurring a significant price premium. Last year’s Fairphone 6 sold for $899 under that model. The new direct-to-consumer approach for the 6 Plus offers a more accessible entry point for consumers seeking repairable technology without the forced software ecosystem.
The 6 Plus serves as a hardware refresh of the Fairphone 6, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and an increase to 12GB of RAM. The device retains the 6.31-inch OLED display, 256GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for expansion, and a 4,415mAh battery. It launches with Android 16 and is supported with software updates until 2033, providing a longer lifecycle than many competitors in the mid-range segment.
Repairability remains a central pillar of the product’s value proposition. The Fairphone 6 received a 10/10 repairability score from iFixit, a standard the 6 Plus is expected to match. Replacement parts are now sold directly in the US, with prices ranging from $7.99 for a SIM tray to $89.99 for a new display. The design allows for disassembly using a single Torx T5 screwdriver, and the phone is available in a new 'Cobalt Blue' colour, referencing the company’s efforts to support ethical cobalt mining.
Fairphone has been gradually expanding its US presence, having introduced audio products such as the Fairbuds XL headphones on Amazon US last November. Alongside the smartphone launch, the company confirmed that the Fairbuds 2 earbuds will launch in the fourth quarter of this year. Fairphone stated the new earbuds will aim to set a new bar for repairability and performance, with further details expected in October.
