As training camps conclude, ESPN has released ten superlatives highlighting the most significant developments across the league, ranging from the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive overhaul to the Carolina Panthers’ unexpected preseason MVP.
ESPN has published a comprehensive list of ten superlatives for the 2026 NFL training camp, offering an institutional assessment of team trajectories as the league transitions into the preseason. The report identifies key narrative shifts across the league, with the Philadelphia Eagles emerging as the team most likely to succeed with a new offensive structure under coordinator Sean Mannion. Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers’ quarterback King has been named preseason MVP following a decisive victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
The Philadelphia Eagles are positioned for a significant tactical shift, with reports indicating that quarterback Jalen Hurts has improved his intermediate throwing mechanics. Mannion’s system, which incorporates under-center alignments and wide zone runs, aims to unlock new potential for running back Saquon Barkley and receiver DeVonta Smith. This structural change follows a period of stagnation under previous coordinators, with early camp reports suggesting the Eagles are better equipped to utilise their talent level in 2026.
Conversely, the Los Angeles Rams have been labelled the team most likely to break hearts due to inflated expectations surrounding their defensive acquisitions. Despite adding star power with Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie, the report cautions that the impact of 35-year-old defensive tackle Aaron Donald may be limited by conditioning and snap counts.
