ESPN Analytics unveils predictive tool for 2026 NBA draft
The sports media organisation has released a new model utilising expert rankings and historical data to estimate selection likelihoods for the upcoming June draft.

ESPN Analytics has launched an interactive 2026 NBA draft simulator, providing users with a mechanism to model the full 60-pick, two-round selection process. The tool allows participants to simulate picks, make individual selections, and conduct trades, aiming to replicate the decision-making environment of a general manager.
The underlying model utilises a combination of expert mock drafts and ESPN’s top 100 player rankings to estimate the probability of each prospect being selected at specific draft slots. This data-driven approach is designed to offer a structured view of potential outcomes rather than speculative narrative.
Beyond pre-draft simulation, the tool will operate live throughout the actual event. It is set to provide minute-by-minute selection probabilities, updating the likelihood of each prospect being chosen at each pick as the draft progresses. This real-time data feed aims to contextualise the unfolding selections against the established statistical model.
The 2026 NBA draft is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 23, and Wednesday, June 24, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The event marks the culmination of the league’s annual recruitment cycle, with significant attention focused on the top tier of prospects.
Broadcast coverage for the event will be split across two days. Round 1 will be aired on ABC, ESPN, and the ESPN App on June 23. Round 2 is scheduled to air on ESPN and the ESPN App on June 24, with the simulator providing continuous analytical support throughout both sessions.
