England close in on Pakistan Test whitewash after Robinson strikes
England lead Pakistan by 268 runs after Ollie Robinson took two early wickets before rain ended day two at Edgbaston.
England moved towards a 3–0 Test-series whitewash over Pakistan after building a 320-run first-innings lead and reducing the tourists to 52–2 in their second innings at Edgbaston.
Pakistan were dismissed for 133 before England made 453. Harry Brook scored 75, Dan Lawrence 65, Jamie Smith 69 and Ollie Robinson 50 as England extended their advantage.
Robinson then struck with the first ball of Pakistan’s second innings, dismissing Saim Ayub, before removing Abdullah Shafique three deliveries later. He finished with 2–10 from six overs.
Shan Masood was unbeaten on 21 at the close alongside Azan Awais, who was 29 not out. Pakistan remained 268 runs short of making England bat again when rain ended play.
Al Jazeera Global News reported that Robinson has taken 21 wickets in the series at an average of under seven runs each, after being named player of the match in the first two Tests. The result remained unresolved, with England still pursuing the series sweep.
