Engadget tracks indie games and studio moves across a busy week

Engadget’s latest indie games roundup covers a broad slate of releases and announcements, from the remote-work simulator Worming from Home to platformers, puzzle games and narrative adventures. Other featured titles include Marsupilami 2: Salsa Palombia, He Who Watches, ShipShaper and Shoe It All!

Double Fine Productions is running a Kickstarter-funded game jam after becoming independent from Microsoft. Backers can vote on 26 pitches, with four set to become playable prototypes before a further vote selects one for development as a small-scale game. The process is being filmed by 2 Player Productions and streamed on Twitch.

Aggro Crab is also expanding beyond game development, using funds from Peak to publish a limited number of independently developed titles. Its planned releases include Rebounder, a precision platformer from ThirtyThree. The publisher says it intends to sign only a couple of games each year and has positioned itself against the use of generative-AI content in projects it supports.

The roundup also includes several upcoming games. I Am Your Beast: Quitting Time, a prequel with 10 levels, is due on PC on 20 October, alongside the base game’s release on Switch and Switch 2. The Final Cut of Lilith Cunningham is planned for 2027, while Milki Delivery and Cat Secretary are scheduled for 17 November and 4 November respectively.

Eric Barone, creator of Stardew Valley, said development of Haunted Chocolatier is progressing but provided no release timeframe. He said the game remains the project he is most eager to work on and that he would not compromise its quality by rushing it.
