DR Congo military plane crash in Kenge kills 14
The aircraft crashed into a residential plot while attempting to land after a reported technical fault. An investigation is under way.
A Congolese army plane crashed into a residential plot in Kenge, Kwango province, on Friday, killing 14 people, according to the military.
The aircraft was travelling from Kikwit to the capital, Kinshasa, when it reportedly developed a technical fault and attempted to land in Kenge. Kwango deputy governor Remy Saki Bokinda said the town had no landing strip.
Military spokesperson Major-General Efomi Ekenge said all those on board died. The military said the dead included civilians, senior military officials and other military personnel, but did not provide a breakdown.
An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the crash. The reported technical fault has not been established as the cause.
