Dodgers Co-Owners Boehly and Walter in Talks to Sell Chelsea Stakes
Financial Times reports discussions regarding the sale of 12.8% stakes held by Los Angeles Dodgers co-owners, marking a potential shift in the London club’s ownership structure.

Los Angeles Dodgers co-owners Todd Boehly and Mark Walter have engaged in discussions regarding the potential sale of their respective stakes in Chelsea F.C., according to a report from The Financial Times on Monday. The talks signal a possible restructuring of the English Premier League club’s ownership, which was established in 2022 under the BlueCo investment group.
Boehly and Walter each hold a 12.8% stake in the London-based club, having contributed to an initial investment of £2.5 billion alongside Clearlake Capital and Hansjörg Wyss. Clearlake Capital retains the majority ownership position with a 61.54% stake, while the remaining shares are distributed among the individual investors.
The reported interest in divesting from Chelsea follows a significant transaction in the American sports market involving Walter. In June 2025, Walter purchased a controlling stake in the Los Angeles Lakers from the Buss family for $10 billion. Just four days later, he sold that majority stake to Bob Iger and Josh Kushner for $12.5 billion. Boehly was also part of Walter’s minority interest in the Lakers during this period.
Should Walter proceed with the sale of his Chelsea shares, he will remain the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Sparks. Boehly is expected to retain his investment in French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg, which recently signed United States men’s national team midfielder Gio Reyna.
Despite the discussions surrounding their European assets, there are no reports indicating that Boehly and Walter are entertaining offers for their stakes in the Dodgers. The Major League Baseball team, valued at $7.8 billion, has won back-to-back World Series titles and remains under their joint control.
