Denzel Ward joins Cleveland Guardians ownership group
The Cleveland Browns cornerback has purchased a minority stake in the Guardians, with financial terms undisclosed.
Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward has purchased a minority stake in the Cleveland Guardians, the baseball club announced on Wednesday.
Ward, a native of Macedonia, Ohio, and former Ohio State player, has spent his entire NFL career with the Browns. Cleveland selected him fourth overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The financial terms and size of Ward’s stake were not disclosed. The Guardians said Ward is expected to throw the ceremonial first pitch before the team’s 15 September game against the Chicago White Sox.
Ward’s community work includes the Make Them Know Your Name Foundation. Guardians chairman and chief executive Paul Dolan and vice-chairman David Blitzer welcomed him as a partner, according to Fox Sports.
Ward is the second NFL player with a connection to the Cleveland area to acquire a minority stake in the Guardians this year. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce bought a stake earlier in 2026.
