Parker Wynk, the senior quarterback for the Celina High School Bulldogs, is facing an uncertain future following a spinal cord injury sustained during a Friday night game against St. Henry. The injury occurred when Wynk collided with another player while attempting to recover a fumble, an impact that reportedly caused his neck to snap backward.
According to a post shared on behalf of the family in the Bulldogs Friday Night Lights Facebook Group, Wynk was immediately unable to move or feel touch on his body. He remained immobile on the field and during transport to the hospital in Coldwater. While the specific severity of the injury has not been detailed, the family stated that he has since been able to feel sensations and make small movements.
Medical reports indicate that there are no broken bones or vertebrae, and the family described his brain as unharmed. However, the spinal cord has been injured, leaving the long-term prognosis for his mobility and sensation unknown. Wynk’s mother, Sierra, confirmed to News Center 7 that he is awake and feels mentally like himself, with teammates and family members visiting him in the hospital.
In response to the incident, Celina First Church of God is holding a special prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, 22 August 2026. The service, located at 850 Fairground Rd in Celina, is open to the public. The church noted that the Wynk family is part of their congregation and invited the community to gather and stand with them.
The family has requested specific prayers for Parker’s spinal cord to heal, for movement and sensation to return throughout his body, and for the associated pain to subside. They are also seeking strength for him physically, mentally, and emotionally as he faces the recovery process.
