A bulk carrier reported being attacked by multiple small craft approximately 11 nautical miles west of Sirik, Iran, near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed that all crew members on the unidentified vessel were safe following the incident, which took place on Sunday.
The UKMTO stated that no environmental impact has been reported as a result of the attack. While the agency verified the safety of the crew, the specific identity of the vessel and the nationality or affiliation of the attacking craft remain unconfirmed by the available sources.
Sirik is situated on the Iranian side of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway that has been central to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel. CENTCOM stated on Sunday that its forces remain fully committed to the total enforcement of the blockade. The agency noted that the 49th vessel attempting to navigate the restricted waters had been redirected to comply with the order, highlighting the continued friction regarding the enforcement of these maritime policies.
