Colo Colo signs Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha following World Cup campaign
The 34-time Chilean champions have secured the services of the Cape Verde international from Chaves, with president Anibal Mosa confirming the deal ahead of Friday’s league fixture.

Colo Colo has confirmed the signing of Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, who will travel to Chile in the coming days for medical examinations and a formal presentation at Monumental Stadium. The 40-year-old player, whose full name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias, joins the Chilean club from Chaves, which competes in the Portuguese second division.
Club president Anibal Mosa announced the agreement to reporters ahead of a league match on Friday evening. Mosa stated that the goalkeeper is in good form, citing this as the primary rationale for the acquisition. The move marks a significant shift for the veteran shot-stopper, who has previously played in Cyprus, Slovakia, Moldova, and Angola before his stint in Portugal.
Vozinha gained international attention during Cape Verde’s recent World Cup campaign. He featured in a group-stage draw against eventual champions Spain, which ended 0-0, and played in the knockout round match against finalists Argentina, which Cape Verde lost 3-2 in extra time. Media reports have described his performances during the tournament as heroic displays, highlighting his role in the nation’s competitive showing on the global stage.
The transfer also coincides with a notable surge in the player’s digital presence. Vozinha’s Instagram following has reportedly increased from 50,000 to nearly 30 million accounts, a growth attributed in part to support from Brazilian influencer Casimiro. While the specific terms of the contract, including duration and salary, were not disclosed, the signing represents a high-profile addition for the South American side.
Colo Colo, a 34-time Chilean champion, currently holds a comfortable lead in the league table midway through the season. The acquisition of Vozinha, who did not sign his first professional contract until the age of 26, adds experience to the squad as they look to maintain their position at the top of the standings.
