Colo Colo confirm signing of Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha following World Cup surge

Colo Colo president Anibal Mosa has confirmed that Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozinha has reached an agreement to join the Chilean club. The 40-year-old, whose full name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias, is set to travel to Chile in the coming days to undergo medical examinations before his official presentation at the Estadio Monumental.

Mosa stated that the decision to sign Vozinha was driven by both his demonstrated on-field merit and the substantial marketing appeal the player brings to the organisation. The goalkeeper gained global attention during the recent World Cup for his performances in a goalless draw against Spain and for making remarkable saves against defending champions Argentina.

Prior to this move, Vozinha departed Portuguese second-tier side Chaves before the summer. His recent form earned him a place in FIFA’s fan-selected World Cup dream team, validating his standing among international peers and fans alike. Colo Colo, which is currently top of the Liga de Primera, teased the acquisition on social media with an image featuring the goalkeeper’s trademark curly hair.

Colo Colo is the most successful club in Chile and the only club from the country to have won the Copa Libertadores.
