CNN omitted from press pool schedule for Trump’s Tennessee trip
The White House schedule named Lindell TV as secondary TV correspondent, while a judge’s temporary order addressed CNN’s White House access.
CNN was absent from the White House schedule for the press pool accompanying President Donald Trump on his Saturday trip to Tennessee, despite a judge having temporarily ordered the network’s White House access restored.
A schedule released on Friday evening did not name CNN or any network in the TV pool rotation. It listed Lindell TV as the “Secondary TV” correspondent and crew. CNN had been scheduled as the TV network for the trip’s pool.
The pool is a rotating group of journalists who travel with the president and share coverage because space is limited. The schedule change leaves unresolved whether the judge’s order on White House access applies to travel pool duties or access to Air Force One.
The Trump administration had barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from White House access. The judge ordered access temporarily restored, describing the ban as likely unconstitutional.
Earlier this week, ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox and NBC halted White House pool coverage in solidarity with the affected outlets. The White House did not respond to a request for comment, and CNN declined to comment.
