Clemson recovered from a 17-6 half-time deficit to defeat North Carolina 28-20 on Saturday, completing a comeback after lightning halted the game for a little over two hours.
The Tigers produced a decisive second-half response, outscoring North Carolina 22-3 after trailing for much of the opening period.
Tyler Brown’s late rushing touchdown extended Clemson’s lead to 28-20 before Elliot Washington II sealed the result with an interception.
The victory moved Clemson to 2-1 and extended its winning streak to two games. The programme had opened the season with a heavy defeat by LSU.
Yahoo Sports reported that the result followed criticism of Clemson’s performance during the first half, including boos from fans and social-media criticism directed at head coach Dabo Swinney.
Clemson is scheduled to face California next Friday.
