New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez has reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension worth US$135 million, including US$102 million in reported guaranteed money, according to multiple reports cited by CBS Sports.

If confirmed, the deal would carry an average annual value of US$33.75 million, making Gonzalez the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history by that measure. It would also make him the highest-paid player in Patriots history.

The reported agreement follows months of negotiations that had become a prominent issue during the Patriots’ training camp. The club’s official X account appeared to acknowledge the development by posting a photo of Gonzalez.

Selected 17th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Gonzalez has developed into an All-Pro and Pro Bowl-level player. He was a major contributor to New England’s playoff run last season, including a game-clinching interception in the AFC Championship.

Gonzalez missed the Patriots’ voluntary organised team activities but attended the club’s minicamp in June. The supplied reports do not include formal confirmation of the agreement from Gonzalez or the Patriots, leaving the reported terms subject to official documentation.
