Chiesa targets fresh start under Liverpool manager Iraola

Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa has voiced his desire for a fresh start under head coach Andoni Iraola, following a period of restricted playing time during Arne Slot’s tenure at Anfield. The 28-year-old Italian international made an immediate impact in Iraola’s first match in charge, coming off the bench to score Liverpool’s third goal in a 4-2 pre-season victory over Sunderland in Nashville.

I love the club, I love the fans, I love everything,” Chiesa said. “I am doing the best I can to have a chance here. And then we will see. At the minute, the only thing I am thinking about is Liverpool.”

When asked about his interactions with the new manager, Chiesa noted that his conversations had been strictly professional. “The only conversations I had were about pressing and tactics,” he explained. “So I don’t know, it is difficult to say. It is always a fresh start at the beginning of the year. Maybe there have been too many fresh starts.” Despite the lack of minutes in recent seasons, he stressed that his approach has not changed, adding, “But I don’t care, I am trying to do my best for this new manager. Last season under Arne Slot, I was trying to do my best.”
