Francisco Cerúndolo has advanced to the US Open fourth round after defeating No. 9 seed Taylor Fritz in five sets.

Cerúndolo lost the opening two sets 6-3, 6-4 before recovering to win the next three 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

The result ends Fritz’s campaign in the third round. The American reached the US Open final in 2024, where he lost to Jannik Sinner, and exited in last year’s quarter-finals against Novak Djokovic.

Yahoo Sports reported that the victory continues a strong Grand Slam season for the Cerúndolo family. Francisco’s younger brother, Juan Manuel, reportedly defeated Sinner in the second round of this year’s French Open.

Amanda Anisimova and Madison Keys were also reported by Yahoo Sports to have lost in the women’s third round.
