Celtic FC Women into Sky Sports Cup quarter-finals after Spartans win

Celtic FC Women have reached the Sky Sports Cup quarter-finals after a 1–0 win over Spartans Women on Sunday.
Casey Howe scored the decisive goal in the first half to send Celtic into the last eight and into the quarter-final draw.
Manager Grant Scott said the result was important despite a frustrating performance. He said Celtic dominated possession and territory but were wasteful in the final third, with several efforts off target or straight at the goalkeeper.
Scott said Celtic had made the tie tighter than necessary but had achieved the primary objective in a cup match: progressing. The victory also delivered another clean sheet as the squad continues to build momentum and belief after being assembled this summer.
The match also marked a first competitive appearance for academy player Freya McIndoe. Scott praised her composure and defensive contribution, saying the club had high hopes for her development.
Celtic’s quarter-final opponent will be determined by the Sky Sports Cup draw.
